I woke up this morning, rolled out of the bed, stood up and thought, "Oh my goodness! I can barely move." Yes, it's official. I'm old. A little fall on the hardwood floor in the kitchen last night left me super sore today. My back, hip, right ankle, and right knee are yelling, "YOU ARE OLD!" :)
Maddux tried out the cupcakes today. He devoured them. My sweet little cupcake! :)
Hunter also loved the strawberry cupcakes. He loved them so much that when Aaron came home at 2 a.m. this morning, Hunt and Dad enjoyed strawberry cupcakes and milk together before he crawled back into the bed for the night.
Dad goes in tomorrow for the procedure to "tattoo" the cancerous mass/area. Please pray for the doctors and my dad. I will post any new information from that, the doctor, etc tomorrow.
I felt successful today. I was able to actually teach in most of my classes today. Our school has been bitten by the stomach bug and we've had so many students absent since the break. In most of my classes, it's pointless to move on if many are absent since many of my classes are very visual and I would just have to re-teach any way. I also accomplished putting quite a few grades into the computer, finished laying out business ads for the yearbook, and I think that my grade book is now set up correctly so that parents and students can also view their grades online (I hope any way!)
After long debate with myself over if I was really ready to put myself out there for others to see my "intimate" goals for 2011, I decided I need to do this so I have some accountability with someone other than myself and God. These are the goals I've set for myself this year. Some of them are already close to being obtained. Some of the others - NOT so much and will probably take me most of the year. This was my students' first assignment when we came back after the holiday break. I asked them to do it so I felt like I needed to do the same.
Spiritual / Ethical
I will make time to sit down and talk with God and study His word on a daily basis.
I will pray about my place of service within our church and step out of my comfort zone to make it happen.
Physical / Health
I will lose 40-50 pounds by excercising regularly and by making better food choices.
I will schedule and keep regular check ups for OBGYN / Eye Doctor / Dental / Family Doctor
Mental / Educational
I will study cancer (colon cancer in particular) and the treatments in order to educate myself and family
as Dad goes through this time in his life.
I will follow up on my desire to learn more about photography by taking a class, attending photography club
meetings, and/or research and studying.
Financial / Career
We will attend Financial Peace University through our church to begin our journey of becoming debt free.
*will make more specific once we attend a class and set these goals.
*classes start Sunday, January 16th
We will set aside and save money for a vacation to Ohio in the summer of 2011 for Mikki's graduation through our
tax income check and saving some monthly before the trip in late May / early June.
Family / Home
We will eat as a family at least once a week without tv, technology devices, or any other distraction to encourage talking
with one another about the things that happened that day, etc.
Social / Cultural
I will start a Book Club or Bunco Night or some type of fellowship night for Ladies to get together and socialize in a friendly,
Christian setting.
I will make more time to hang out with the friends who mean the most to me and rekindle some of those friendships I miss the most.
Wish me luck! :)
