Dad's Surgery

Let the 4 hour wait begin! We are in the surgery waiting room now. Pray for sanity. LOL . . . when the Mansel family is in one room, it could be a fiasco. Papa Burl, Mama Donna, Aunt Janet, Sarah, Mom and I are in the waiting room (so far, so good!)

The surgeon came in and seemed very optimistic of the 4 hour surgery. She went through the motions of letting us know that he could have the permanent bag, however she was confident that she would be more than likely able to do the temporary. The liver spot was just inflammation. One of the two polyps were the start (adenoma) of cancer. The surgeon said that it takes up to 10 years for the actual cancer to grow and develop in those polyps. The good news is that she had already removed those during the colonoscipy this last Thursday. The size of the cancer on the colon is down to about a fingertip which means the chemo and radiation did their jobs. We are so thankful.

Aaron was in charge of getting the boys to school this morning. Let's hope they are there! :)  Aaron's parents are picking up Maddux this evening and Hunt is going with his little buddy, Cade. I think Hunter was a bit nervous about Papa's surgery today. We prayed together last night for Papa and his doctors. He is such a sweet, sensitive kid. I'm so blessed.

I'm missing my students at school. I had strep at the end of last week and then with the long, Easter break, it seems like forever since I've seen them all. Only a few short weeks left with seniors and then they will be hitting the real world. I hope they are ready. Life can be rough, but then again most of them know more about this than they should.

Easter was great! Church was a blessing as always. It was wonderful seeing the Neighbors at church again. We finally received rain. I was so thankful even if the downpour happened during our church Easter egg hunt. :) Aaron put a trash bag on Maddux's head and sent him out. Hunter being the 9 year old he is, took off without thinking twice. We enjoyed lunch at Aaron's parents, an inside hunt with the cousins, and then spent the evening at my parents. God is so good and we are blessed with wonderful family.

I will keep you all updated as we find out more information. Thanks again for all your prayers, love and support.
